Alexander Girard "June"
Material: Cotton
Gender: Men
Season: SS25
Our ongoing partnership with the estate of Alexander Girard continues into our SS25 collection with June , a print that Girard originally designed in 1964 during his tenure as the Head of Fabric and Textile Division at Herman Miller. More than 60 years later, June serves as a prime example of Girard's masterful graphic work. Like many of Girard's prints, June takes inspiration from Girard's life. While working at Herman Miller in Zeeland, Michigan, he developed a particular affinity for the area's wild poppy fields, which notably come into bloom during June. Here, Girard renders a poppy field with fluorescent red flowers, dark turquoise stalks, and a subtle cream ground. To continue Girard’s emphasis of quality craftsmanship, we had June meticulously reengineered by our Italian partner mill on a summer-weight 100% cotton poplin. Each color was matched to its original Pantone, and extra care was taken to ensure pigments hold fast and resist bleeding. This is the first time June has been printed on clothing.
