The Oxford takes its name from Oxford University — the style originated in Scotland and Ireland in the early 1800s and quickly caught on among university students. These lace-up dress shoes are clean, classic, and traditional. The “cap toe” refers quite literally to the toe box and the seam sewn on the leather there. Originally meant to reinforce the area, it became a visual statement of the shoe’s formality — cap-toe dress shoes are the most formal option in a man’s wardrobe and are well-suited to white-tie or black-tie events. Ours are made in Italy from soft, supple calf leather. They feature durable Goodyear construction, wherein the upper is stitched to the outsole, and leather soles and lining. The stacked wooden heel has a rubber top lift for traction; note the gentleman’s notch at the heel, a design element meant to minimize the chance of it catching on the cuff of your trousers.
