Carey Mulligan in Silver Celine at the Wildwood Premiere

Carey Mulligan opened the world premiere of Wildwood at the 70th BFI London Film Festival on 11 October 2026 in silver Celine from Michael Rider's Spring 2027 collection: an asymmetric tunic over a floor-trailing column skirt, both in iridescent micro-pleats, with Jessica McCormack diamonds. It was the quietest dress of the festival and the one everybody photographed. Below, why it works and the evening dresses on BranSpot that get you the same effect.

The look

Two pieces, not a gown. W Magazine describes a bateau-necked tunic cut asymmetrically, weighted at the hem by a shimmering ball, over a column skirt that trails the floor, the whole thing in iridescent micro-pleats that catch a different light with every step (W Magazine). The silhouette is slightly twisted, the draping languid; the pleats do all the work, so the jewellery stays to a few Jessica McCormack diamonds. Tom + Lorenzo called the dress gorgeous and the styling a touch too low-key for it (Tom + Lorenzo). We disagree: with fabric that moves this much, low-key is the point.

How to wear it

Celine is in our network, but a Spring 2027 runway look is not in any store in October 2026 and may never be. The idea travels, though: a liquid metallic that is pleated or plissé rather than sequinned, worn long, with hair back and one piece of jewellery. Silver on silver works when the shoe is a thin strappy sandal rather than a pump, and the earring is a single drop. Anything more and you fight the pleats.
